M. J. began his career in the electronics industry while in the U. S. Air Force and joined the cable industry in 1977 as an installer for Smith Insulation in San Angelo, Texas. After moving on to bench technician for U. A. Columbia Cablevision and being promoted to evaluation engineer, M. J. joined Warner Amex Cable Communications as the preventative maintenance supervisor and then moved up to demand maintenance manager. In 1984, M.J. joined Gilbert Engineering as South Central regional manager, being responsible for service, sales, seminars and shows. He has presented more than 900 seminars, trained more than 15,000 people for Gilbert Engineering, SCTE and the Magnavox training van in 49 states and in Mexico. In October of 1999, Mr. Jackson joined Alcoa Fujikura Ltd, as broadband sales engineer for the South Central states with responsibilities for service, sales, seminars, shows and design for fiber-optic management systems for telecommunications headends.
M. J. served two terms as Region 4 Director, has been the past chairman, president, vice president and at-large director of the North Central Texas Chapter.
M. J. has been active with the SCTE Interface Practices and In-Home Cabling Subcommittee’s Working Group 1, 2 and 3. He participated on the Cable-Tec EXPO ’92 and Emerging Technologies ’98 Program Subcommittees, served as chairman for the Publications, Trade Shows and Regional Seminars Subcommittees, served as a member of the Training Committee, the Design and Construction Subcommittee, Health and Safety Subcommittee and past Chairman of Cable-Tec Games. M. J. is a Senior Member of SCTE, currently serving on the SCTE Operation Committee.
